This webpage is an attempt to create a story bank as a tribute to the creators of iconic multilingual story book Chanda Mama. It was started initially in Telugu by B.Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani. They are noted Telugu Film makers. It was edited by Kodavatiganti Kutumba Rao. Mr. Rao was a very close friend of Chakrapani and a literary colossus in Telugu Literature. He edited it for 28 years, till his death in August 1980.
Stories are primary medium to provide a repository of situations. These situations which can act as reference while making major decisions in life. Story telling is an ancient tradition used by different civilisations for passing knowledge across generations.
The Chanda Mama is a an attempt to create story bank of ChandaMama stories. This also aims at creating a Story Bank (compilation of various stories from Indian culture and subcultures such as Panchatantra , Jataka Kathayen etc). The stories helps in laying the foundation of moral conscience in a child. Stories also act as a strong medium for instilling appropriate values in the formative years.
Educators and teachers have acknowledged that story telling is a powerful medium for evoking interest in a child and educating them. Story serves as repository of situations and character and how each one of them choose to react under specific circumstances.
